I had a similar tool in stainless steel (it was polished as a mirror). I wasnīt really satified with it. I found that it was an inferior cutting tool and a mirror with a sharpened edge isnīt exactly a smart idea (maybe Iīm just clumsy <img src="images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />). So I stopped carrying it after a short time. I think that a single edged razor blade provides more value for the money.

I really liked that idea too. I even made a couple of cutting tools in that style and size. Some of them were even made of old high speed turning tools (both steel and tungsten carbide). Eventually I stopped making and carrying these tools because of the safety issue and the lack of utility.

Two thing of interest to me in the TAD Gear Tools are size and titanium. Being titanium they are supposed to elude certain metal detectors - tho I suspect that they would show up fine on X-ray. But dog-tags didn't ring the bell when I last flew so ... In any case, I sharpened the long edge of a p38 for use in my PSK and find that it is a fine edge for what can be fit into a PSK and it has the added advantage of being a p38 as well. I keep the sharpened handle piece of the p38 together with a safety razor in the cardboard protector that came with the safety razor. Gives me a really sharp fine work sharp that dulls rapidly and a sturdy sharp with more gripping surface and more durrable edge in a very economically sized PSK package. Other in such space confined situations I wouldn't find a use for such small sharps. When camping I have my PSK as well as my Bushman and my Leatherman Wave. When around the office I have my Leatherman Wave and a small Dakota multitool about the size of a micra that has a LED light built in.

I'm all about redundancy and multi-function when it comes to tools.

I haven't thought this all the way through, but I'm not sure that I'd want something sharp enough to use hanging around my neck, blade exposed.
