Title Under Username

Title Under Username - 10/06/05 10:23 PM

So where do the titles under the user name come from on this forum? I notice some people have titles like newbie, journeyman, and dedicated member underneath their names in the user info window on the left side of the page beside their post.

Yah, while it isn't importaint, I've been curious about that too. I've been a "newbie member" since 10/10/01 with 262 posts.

Interesting...

Actually, if you've read the comic, Groo probably would take that as a compliment... after thinking about it for a long, long time.

It was one of the comics I grew up on, and my favorite Marvel.

I've wondered too. I'm guessing the posting rate is a factor as well.

Re: Title Under Username - 10/07/05 03:29 AM

Maybe it only counts threads CREATED???
Or maybe how many replies you get to a thread you created...
Look at mine... I do not have many posts a all, but look at my rating???

Re: Title Under Username - 10/07/05 03:31 AM

I think I know now...
I have the DR PSK and the small and large knives too!
That has GOT to be it
Actually, if that counts as donations to the site, it may actually be it!!!

The FAQ tells you at what post count your title changes.

Golly. RTFM. Heh, even after you said that, it took me a bit to find it!

The FAQ says:
Quote:

What is the string that appears beneath my username in posts?

It's a system-generated User Title - stranger, newbie, journeyman, member etc. You progress through the various levels according to the cumulative number of posts you have made.

What are these titles about?

Everyone has a title within the forum. You will notice them below the Username in each post. Some titles are automatically assigned based on the number of posts a user has made, and some titles are assigned by the forum owner to denote official representatives of the company or other VIPs in the forums.

Here is the list of the standard titles and # of posts to achieve them:

0 new member
25 newbie
50 journeyman
100 dedicated member
200 enthusiast
300 needs a life

I noted:

So it appears that the counter, or the FAQ is busted. :-)

Re: Title Under Username - 10/07/05 06:18 AM

Its probably a corrupt system setting.

Didn't the system have some database coruption a while back?
It might be some left overs from that.

Re: Title Under Username - 10/07/05 12:32 PM

Might be a system bug, but try writing something in your Bio, it seems to be the only pattern I've noticed. No Bio no Title !?!?

Re: Title Under Username - 10/07/05 05:21 PM

If we ever upgrade the system the whole title business is going away. I have utterly no idea what capricious Tron figure from the Disney movie controls this mess.
