Anyone used these pair of boots? - 08/31/04 01:24 AM
Bates® DOD Marine Issue Jungle / Desert Boots!
I was just wondering since I need a second pair to beat around and seeing the price of about $100 I was wondering how different they are from typical standard issue jungle boots? I mean there is a big price difference. Also is top somehow thick or just one layer of leather? Thank you guys for all the help in advance...

Those look like REAL nice desert boots.
About $100 seems fair for such boots. True issue jungle boots are in the $100 range as well. Those boots are desert boots not jungle despite what they say.
Of course you can get far east knokoffs for $30 but they are nowhere near the real deal in fit quality or comfort.

Aren't desert boot requirements and jungle boot requirements mutually exclusive? I thought that jungle boots had good drainage, while desert boots didn't (to keep sand from getting in).

Exactly.
They are light years apart in design and function
