Best and worst places to survive - 09/11/08 02:59 PM

Giligan's island seemed like a pretty good location, at least during the series.

There were some tough places in the Star Trek gendre that I wouldn't want to take the chance on.

Best? Playboy Mansion. It seems, um, pretty well stocked. But then there's that thing about a steady rabbit diet and starvation . . .

Worst? The "Lost" island. I prefer my physical laws to be in a steady state.

My favorite Survivorman episode is the one where he leaves the "luxury" of the ocean beachfront and heads into the Amazonian jungle. Soon enough he's in an absolute nightmare of a place, unable to rest on the ground due to the unrelenting critters and dampness.

All he could do was get back to the beach as soon as possible.

The Mustang ranches aren't free, you know. Here you would be, surrounded by hookers, and it would be costing you a minimum of $250 a pop (1993 prices, just the 'basics').

When I drove limo in Vegas, I would occasionally take passengers out to those places, and they were shocked by the prices. I guess the old $20 hooker back home was looking better and better...

In a REAL survival situation, I wonder where sex ends up fitting in, if at all?

Best Place to survive...on my couch with a beer and remote watching Dirty Jobs, Bear or Les, thinking, "That's gotta suck."

Worst place to survive...In-Laws at Thanksgiving

Last I heard, the Mustang was closed. Bunny was still alive and well tho, not far from that great big black "spider"...

Uh, Ben, what did you eat this morning?

Worst place: Caprica or Niffliem.

Best place: Any place you don't really need to "survive" per say.

Best Place - The place you know the most about the area/etc.
Worst - The place you know the least about.

Did I ruin the fun? :P

Right now Galveston TX does not seem like a good place to plan to survive in. News reports are saying that those who did not evacuate should write their SSN's on their arms.

YIKES!

I've been there once, and I know why they should be worried... not many escape routes!

Here in Canada, the police tell us to write your driver license number on your arm as they normally do not have access to Federal SIN (Social Insurance Number) database due to privacy laws...

It was supposed to be that way here too, but that went out the expediency window a long time ago.

Sex fits in with long-term survival: reproduction.

Pre-401K survival plan: children. Lots of 'em.

P.S.

They make good remotes, too.

I always wondered WHY they would want to get off from Gilligans Island?
