Woman survives 8 days in northern Saskatchewan - 08/31/14 04:12 PM

Here's a story of a canoe trip that went wrong. The canoe capsized in rapids. The lady was stranded alone for 8 days but after rescue was treated in hospital and released. Sadly, her husband did not survive. There's some pretty rugged and remote (but beautiful) country up there. It's all boreal forest. Reading this story I was thinking how handy Canoedogs' PFD kit would have been.

All things considered she did good. She stayed put, built a fire for signal/warmth/security and they started out with someone on the outside looking for updates and making the call when they stopped.

As for a kit, I'd like to know out of curiosity what she did have when she got to shore. Bic lighter, pocket knife, experience ... BTDT carries a lot of weight.
