Les Stroud book auction for ETS

Les Stroud book auction for ETS - 04/21/09 09:56 PM

I ran this by Chris, and he approved the posting.

I have an extra copy of Les Stroud's new book, "Survive!". I am donating it to ETS, so that they may auction it to raise a bit o' cash. I'm not entirely sure how these things work, so I guess the honor system is in effect.

I will mail the book to whomever bids the highest and coughs up the dough (not to me, but directly to ETS). I guess we'll set an arbitrary deadline of 7 pm. Eastern time, 4/24/09, to submit a bid.

If there is a better way of handling this, I'll welcome the suggestion.

DO we just place bids here or PM them?

If we bid by PM, then how do we know what the last person bid?

You don't, just bid your best and hope you win! laugh

If two people submit the same winning bid, the earlier bid wins.

Yet another reason why I don't do silent auctions.

I think I'd rather just make a donation and go buy a copy.

This isn't to say this was a bad idea, for I think someone is gonna be happy (DR if no one else). Just not my cup o' tea.

However, it does open up a new option. Does this mean we can hold more such auctions and donate the proceeds? I have a few things I don't want to just throw away but can't get the price I want for them either.
